So many of the “values” we learn in school just sound good lying in our textbooks. Most of the time, they don’t resonate with the world we’re living in at all. One of our favourites has always been “don’t judge a book by its cover”. Do explain to us, unless you know the author, or have been recommended that book, what else about it is going to entice you to pick it up? In a world where information overflow is at its peak, it is outer appearances that lay the opening for one to discover what lays on the inside – whether it is books, or people and the relationships between them all.
Before the haters go all crazy about this, let us clarify right at the beginning – no, we are not all into appearances alone. There is a difference between seeing and judging a person for who he or she is, and seeing and acknowledging their unique identity and style. We stand for the latter. Now whether you like your man or women to be wearing a stylish, expensive suit and dress, or would have them sit across the table with folded legs wearing casual shorts for women or men, is entirely up to you. All we are saying, is that their choice of clothing, reflects the side of themselves that they want to show to you.
Perhaps that is why, we have always felt that a woman in an oversized t-shirt and pair of pyjamas or shorts for women can sometimes be so much more intimate than the same woman wearing a dress that serves a singular purpose: to torment and tease.
Of course, there are occasions that call for the latter, but that is for another time. For now, if we are to speak of things that can be worn to overcome the maddening heat this summer, our picks would be:
Classic cotton shorts for women (or men) that can be paired with:
A loose shirt
A loose or fitting t-shirt
A tank top (preferably for women, men don’t try wearing her tank top, ok? You get tank tops for men too, go with those should you choose to)
A tank top or bralette with a loose over-shirt (definitely only for women)
A halter top (also for women)
Or really, anything you please. Classic cotton shorts look good with just about everything!
A Boyfriend shirt with denims if you are the kind that just cannot do without his / her favourite pair of jeans
Sleeveless shirts or t-shirts with boxer shorts also do very well with this heat
In general, choose lighter colours, and fabrics that don’t feel sticky to the skin. Our personal favourite has always been cotton, and we like to go with a combination of either solid colours in cotton, or a mix and match of print and colour either on the top or bottom.
The general rule of thumb, is to be able to find yourself something that does not make you want to rip the skin off your body because it feels like it is about to melt any moment. And of course, accessories, sun tan lotions, and probably some deodorant, might be some things to keep handy this time of the year.
Apart from that, all you need this summer is to let the brightest, boldest, and most charming side of your personality shine through – either through your words, actions, or clothes. If it us, though, we’d choose all three…after all, we’re known to be a bit of a Sexy Beast…
